New Year’s resolutions about staff – start the process now

The lead up to Christmas and the New Year is when employers often look ahead to their staffing needs for the new year. Often, it is at this time that employers identify employment issues.

It might be an employee who’s not performing, it may be a need to run a different staffing structure, or an employee may have done something wrong. The reality is that processes are needed to deal with all of these issues and they take time.

Often, employers come to us in the weeks immediately prior to Christmas, wanting to address these issues so that they can start the year with a ‘clean slate’. Whilst there are a number of options in our toolbox, it is certainly better if employers get onto these issues early and commence a process to deal with these issues away from the hustle and bustle of the pre-Christmas rush.

Of course, this year has been a year like no other and terminology such as ‘right sizing’, ‘redundancy’, ‘hibernation’ and ‘reduced hours’ are commonplace. All of these options also require a process and, while they can seem daunting, with some knowledge and expertise, the processes can be run very smoothly and reasonably quickly.

So, if you have concerns about an employee issue, or you are considering a different structure for your staff, please feel free to get in touch and have a chat. We can discuss the options with you.
