Director, Webb Ross

Why did you become a board member of Lawlink?

Lawlink is essentially a co-operative. Co-operatives rely on the support of their members. My firm Webb Ross saw my participation as a director is a contribution that we could make to the company. I was also impressed by the standard of both the directors and the staff of Lawlink so I saw them as a positive group of people to become involved with.

What value does Lawlink add to its member firms, staff within those firms, and clients of those firms?

I see the biggest benefit coming from the strength of the network that Lawlink is. It is particularly strong because of the calibre of the firms involved. As the firms are spread throughout the country there is only a limited amount of competition between members. This makes all participants more willing to help each other in a collegial way.

This friendliness between firms means that members are willing to be open with each other, which benefits all members, and ultimately benefits our clients.

Help is readily given and resources are readily shared. This means that if some novel question comes up then the combined resources of over 300 lawyers are on tap, and it is very likely that there is someone in the group who has the answer.

This means that we can offer a depth of resources to our clients which other similar firms cannot.

Where do you see the future of Lawlink?

The legal profession is facing change just as are all sectors of business. It can be difficult for small firms to cope with change on their own. Lawlink will continue to succeed as long as it keeps leading change and helping its members to adjust. Lawlink should continue to offer a resource to keep its members up to date by facilitating change and development by drawing on the resources of its members.
