Timpany Walton has a long and proud history of providing superior legal service to clients.

Our litigation department undertakes work in all jurisdictions of our court structure - District Court, High Court, and Court of Appeal. We have also represented clients in the Privy Council. Our practice extends to other courts and tribunals such as the Environment Court, Employment Authority, Liquor Licensing Authority, Accident Compensation Appeal Authority, and Taxation Appeal Authority. We have had extensive criminal court experience having acted in a number of murder trials and other major criminal cases.

We have represented clients in major litigation including successfully defending a client being sued by its former solicitors, acting for receivers in a precedent-setting case, and acting on an appeal to the Privy Council in a foreign exchange case.

Our Commercial department acts on all commercial matters. We have extensive experience across a range of commercial transactions from acquisitions and mergers to receiverships and insolvencies. We have acted for major corporate clients in arranging finance for multi-million dollars deals, and acted on major inter-company acquisitions and restructurings.

Our Property team has a vast wealth of experience whether it be acting for large or small clients, purchasers or vendors. We have acted on a number of commercial property purchases in Wellington and Auckland, and have particular experience in acting for syndicates purchasing large commercial properties. We can also assist with all aspects of financing arrangements and lease negotiations and documentation. Our team has close relationships with a number of lending institutions and can assist clients in arranging finance packages.

We also specialise in farm sales and purchases and have acted on a significant number of major transactions in this specialised area of work.

We have formed a large number of Family Trusts and assisted clients in establishing the proper and best structure for owning assets so as to maximise the benefits of asset protection and minimise the tax costs.
