Why did you become a board member of Lawlink?
I (and my firm, Wynn Williams) wanted to become more engaged with Lawlink and to assist in the next phase of its development. Lawlink already offers its members a lot of value through its products and services. I want to help strengthen the products and services already in place and to look for ways to add even more value to existing members.
What value does Lawlink add to its member firms, staff within those firms, and clients of those firms?
The key benefits to member firms are the comprehensive, up-to-date, precedent system; the economies of scale firms achieve for PI insurance; the great banking package; the sharing of baseline profitability and productivity information; and the collegiality. Lawlink is a unique 'club' that's held in high regard by both its member firms and the legal fraternity as a whole.
Staff have access to ready-made, best practice solutions to client issues via the precedent system. It's great that they can tap into such a valuable resource. Staff in Lawlink firms also benefit from the banking package, and have access to comprehensive training around a whole raft of legal issues including new legislation.
The first-class precedent system means that clients of Lawlink firms can have confidence in the legal advice they receive — knowing that it's up to date and has been peer-reviewed and tested. They also benefit from open access to legal minds throughout the Lawlink network so, if they have a complex issue, they can feel comfortable that their lawyer will be able to handle it well.
Where do you see the future of Lawlink?
Lawlink will continue to maintain its current offerings, continually refining them to ensure they remain relevant to member firms and their clients. My personal goal is to ensure the younger generations of lawyers within Lawlink firms, engage more with the Lawlink network, and that it remains relevant to them. Lawlink is doing great things and delivers real benefit to lawyers within member firms — it's my goal to ensure all lawyers within member firms know this and that Lawlink is not a secret!
