Erich Bachmann
Director, Hesketh Henry
Why did you become a board member of Lawlink?
I took over from one of my colleagues at Hesketh Henry as, in my capacity as managing partner of the firm, I wanted to gain a better first-hand understanding of the full range of Lawlink's current activities, and to ensure its continued relevance to Hesketh Henry in the future. It's great to be proactively involved in shaping the future direction of Lawlink.
What value does Lawlink add to its member firms, staff within those firms, and clients of those firms?
The economies of scale afforded by Lawlink membership, such as professional indemnity cover, is of great value to the firms.
Staff, and ultimately clients, really benefit from the Lawlink precedents. These are used daily in some areas and the Lawlink team is currently working to deliver an even broader suite of high-quality precedents, which have the potential to be of huge help to all lawyers throughout the network in their day-to-day work.
Lawlink conferences are valuable both in terms of their content and the networking opportunities. It's great to find out what other firms are focusing on and to share ideas and resources.
Firms within Lawlink can offer clients local expertise in all regions of New Zealand and can tap into knowledge at other firms to help their clients achieve their goals.
Where do you see the future of Lawlink?
I see Lawlink providing even more grass roots support to lawyers throughout the network - more precedents, useful tools and information accessed through a website portal, and greater communications support.
The Lawlink brand is there to support the individual firm brands to the extent they choose to use it. I see Lawlink's role as tapping into and leveraging the combined intellectual 'grunt' that exists within the network for the benefit of the whole of Lawlink.
